The lands west beyond the Yellow River are the haunt of the Rong peoples — once the fierce horse-riding Saka lived in this place, but these lands to the far west have since then fallen under the sway of the Kushans and the Qiang. Unlike the frozen grassland of Hu, Quanrong is a land of dry hills and scorching plains — yet rumours of faraway peoples rich and powerful enough to rival even the Chinese nations in all their glory, living beyond the westernmost ends of this region, continue to haunt the austere trails and nomadic settlements of Quanrong.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Like the peripheries of the Chinese world, Quanrong is mostly poor in tribute, except for one place: Jushi. If you are playing as either Qin, Qiang or the Kushans, it is not a bad idea to attempt to seize Jushi for yourself, to obtain its tribute and the Science tech card there.

Political summary[edit | edit source]

Quanrong is one of the most sparsely populated areas of the world, covered by 3 factions — Qin, whose homeland of Guanzhong borders Quanrong at Yiqu and Nanzheng — the Kushans, who are based in the Tarim, and finally the Qiang, who have two bases - one at Yiqu, and another at Rma. While there is plenty of space among many of these factions, the lands of Quanrong are still poor, compared to those on either side of the Great River.

Granite Jade Gold Slave emporion Supply: Rma x 1

Yiqu[edit | edit source]

Of all the Rong peoples, the fiercest and most feared of them are the Xirong tribes. This land of sparse grassland and rocky hills appears to be their main settlement, where they live ensconced in the natural fortifications of this territory.

  • Tribute: 5
  • Supply Centre available

Hexi[edit | edit source]

The Hexi corridor connects the frontier lands of China with the rest of the outside world out west. While this place is fairly devoid of natural resources, it is an ideal location for trade, and slave markets can be found in this territory.

  • Strategic resource: Slave emporion
  • Bonus card: Eureka — Commerce

Rma[edit | edit source]

Fenced off from all civilization by a ring of mountains that run eastwards from the west, then to the south, the land of Rma is a vast desolate plain, but even then looks can be deceiving. Many tribes call this land home and make a living as hunter-gatherers here. In addition, our scouts report that many of the hills here host vast deposits of granite that could be ours were this land to be secured.

  • Strategic resource: Granite
  • Bonus card: Treachery

Nanzheng[edit | edit source]

Craggy hills and treacherous peaks dominate this river valley, which forms a strategic route between Guanzhong and Shu.

  • Tribute: 10
  • Bonus card: Intelligence Network
Bonus card is unavailable in the Imperial Campaign.

Tarim Basin[edit | edit source]

Since time immemorial, the Kushan tribes have long settled this place, first as nomads, then later as purveyors of the fine jade so sought by princes and warlords alike.

  • Strategic resource: Jade
  • Bonus card: Treachery

Jushi[edit | edit source]

Travellers state that unlike the ravenous hordes of most Rong peoples, the tribes here do not engage in the harsh nomadic Rong lifestye, but are instead involved in trade, and have knowledge of other lands far beyond our own.

  • Tribute: 50
  • Bonus card: Eureka — Science

Altai[edit | edit source]

Rumours speak of gold in these hills, but the tribes of these lands are simply not willing to share.

  • Strategic resource: Gold
  • Bonus card: Partisans
